Hello to all Will Rogers Elementary Families,
My name is Johncy Martin and I am excited to be the principal of Will Rogers Elementary. I have been with the Ardmore City School District for ten years and have seen and heard great things happening at Will Rogers. Our students and parents are second to none as to their dedication to our educational process. Below, you will find some additional information about me as a first step in developing what I hope to be a lasting professional relationship.
My education career began a little over ten years ago as a sixth-grade mathematics teacher at Ardmore Middle School. I taught there for five years, teaching sixth and seventh grade math, as well as serving on the AMS AVID Site Team. I also served as director of the Sixth Grade Environmental Camp for two years. Next, I moved to Ardmore High School as AVID Site Coordinator and AVID Elective teacher and taught Algebra II and Geometry. Finally, I served as Assistant Director and mathematics teacher at Take Two Academy, Ardmore’s best kept secret. There I was involved with teaching and learning life skills according to the Boys Town model. I use them every day in my interactions with parents, staff, and students alike.
I currently reside west of Lone Grove with my wife and our pets. My wife and I have two children each and collectively, we have twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. My mom lives about a hundred yards north of me on the same six acres. For recreation, we ride a motorcycle and I do a little woodwork, building primitive furniture, bird houses, and other things.
As your new principal, my intention is that our staff will provide your children with the same education we would expect for our own children. This will be easily attainable because we have such a hardworking dedicated staff.
As I stated earlier, I am thrilled to be part of this community. I grew up in Ardmore. I graduated from Ardmore High School. And, I have lived around Ardmore and Southern Oklahoma since 1961. I see the future as exciting and extremely successful for our students. I look forward to our work together. Please feel free to contact me by phone at (580)223-2482 and by email at firstname.lastname@example.org .
