Global Citizens

Global Citizens

Perhaps our most important responsibility to our community is to produce responsible citizens who contribute to their communities. As the scope of community expands beyond our city, state and nation to encompass the international community, this responsibility becomes even more important. Our graduates’ skills and knowledge must allow them to interact with others successfully in the global marketplace.

Ardmore Schools serve a diverse student population that participates in learning activities which help them develop communication, collaboration, problem-solving and decision making skills, all required in today’s world. A curriculum that includes extensive technology, foreign language and upper level math and science courses is critical. We actively encourage our students to enroll in these courses and were one of the first four schools in Oklahoma to participate in the Oklahoma Scholars Program. This program encourages all students to enroll in a rigorous course of study that is designed to foster these critical skills.

But becoming a successful, responsible global citizen requires more than classroom instruction. That is where Ardmore Schools have the edge. Our students interact daily with diverse students, faculty and staff. Our students participate in community service, learning that service is just as important to a successful society as is commerce and industry. The district works closely with many civic organizations to make Ardmore a stronger community and our students do much of that work. Whether it is one of the multiple blood drives for the Southern Oklahoma Blood Institute or assisting the Ardmore Beautification Council with keeping Ardmore looking beautiful, our students are learning that community service makes our world a better place. Our students actively participate as citizens in their community.
